Prevent voter suppression

Save America Act is voter suppression

The Save America Act, passed by the House of Representatives and strongly supported by Claudia Tenney, is a voter registration bill that wants to take away State’s rights to manage their own elections and voters.  The proposed voter registration process requires, as proof of citizenship, birth certificates, passports and, for those who take a spouse’s name, the legal Marriage Certificate to prove the name change.  It’s a costly process many cannot afford and heavily tips the scales towards those with mobility, moneytime, and  transportation necessary to get over the hurdles.

Further, the stated purpose of the legislation is based on a false premise - that non-citizen voters pose a threat to election integrity across the nation, and only Federal intervention can correct the problem.  Let’s look at that.

In 2025,

  • Louisiana studied the extent of the non-citizen voter fraud and found 390 questionable voters out of 2.9 million – or 0.00013%.
  • Montana found 23 in a registered voter pool of 750,000– 0.00003%
  • Georgia found 20 non-citizens out of 8.2 million registrations.
  • Utah found 1 non-citizen out of 2.1 million voters!

There is not a problem with non-citizen voters. End of story.

So, what’s the legislation really aboutClaudia Tenney says it’s about “. . . safeguarding the integrity of our elections”. As shown above, it does exactly the opposite.

The Save America Act keeps poorer, less privileged, less mobile citizens from expressing their choices on what representatives we have in government. That describes a lot of Seneca County.
