The Rule of Law must be respected
The rule of law is fundamental to our society. We expect our government to follow the law scrupulously. The present administration in Washington has no respect for that requirement and is continually breaking the law and forcing others to do so. Rep. Tenney claims to respect this rule, but encourages actions that have agents of the Federal government violating the legal protections of Americans.
Rule of law is a principle under which all persons, institutions, and entities are accountable to laws that are:
- Publicly promulgated (known)
 - Equally enforced
 - Independently adjudicated
 - and Consistent with international human rights principles.

These words come directly from the U.S. Courts website. Please visit the web page for more information about the Constitutional basis for the rule of law – it is short and clarifies the intent of our Constitution.
Our elected officials, their appointees, judges, justices and the military all take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, which means upholding the above definition of the rule of law.
Contrary to her sworn oath to uphold the Constitution, Representative Tenney supports ICE detention and arrest of immigrants even before their legal immigration status is established. This violates both the principle of equal enforcement and compliance with international human rights principles. We do not believe anybody who supports policies and practices in violation of our Constitution belongs in government.
Furthermore, we encourage all local institutions to respect the rule of law even when asked by those in power to break the law. An Executive order is not a royal decree. It is instruction from the top for members of the Executive branch of government how to implement policies. They must follow the law. Unfortunately, the current Executive Branch leadership does not check the law first. Therefore the Executive Orders must be read with some skepticism and appropriate legal actions initiaated to protect the integrity of our society.
