Successful No Kings Day in Ovid

Image
Nearly 200 people came out in the middle of Seneca County to join the National No Kings action and to show how rural Americans are distressed by the extreme antidemocratic actions of this administration and reject its authoritarian overreach. The drivers-by mostly honked and waved approval at the signs and cheers.  Participants sported signs that expressed common human values as well as defiance towards the government's actions that violate those values. Some signs quoted the First Amendment, the Pledge of Allegiance ("Liberty & Justice for All"), and Thomas Paine ("The Law is King").   Our event was covered by The Finger Lakes Times , Finger Lakes1 and the Finger Lakes Daily News !

No Kings day in Ovid 11 am, Saturday Oct. 18. Show your commitement to America

America threw off the hegemony of autocracy and monarchy in favor of Democracy 250 years ago. We have had a good run as a Democracy! Now there are forces in power who want to bring back autocratic rule, with king-like powers. Americans must stand united against that effort. Show your American patriotism at the No Kings rallies on October 18.  Indivisible Seneca has organized one in Ovid.  We’ll be peacefully rallying, supporting the Rule of Law and freedom of speech. Our devotion to the principles of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights is the backbone of the freedoms we enjoy, our self-dignity and our standing in the world. Please join us and millions of people across the nation on Saturday the 18th in amplifying our voices, demanding accountability from our elected Representatives. 11:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Ovid . Prosperity for Seneca County

Image
We want policies that bring prosperity to the residents of Seneca County. We do not want policies that create prosperity for the already-prosperous at the expense of the residents of Seneca County. Rep. Claudia Tenney consistently votes in favor of the extremely wealthy and not for us. The billionaires' club called "Americans for Prosperity" is very happy with her. We are not. This Congressional District needs Federal policies and programs that facilitate economic prosperity. But we are getting policies that extract money from our residents to pay for billionare tax breaks. We are seeing essential Federal programs cut that make it more difficult to run a farm or a small business, or even to hold a job if you have dependents or need medical care. We need a representative who will support policies that let us be prosperous.
